Mesh Wi-Fi networks are all the rage at the moment and the Zyxel Multy X is garnering some particularly favourable reviews. Indeed, it recently won a Labs Winner award from PC Pro magazine. But what does that arrow-shaped light on the top mean?
Zyxel Multy X light: White (blinking)
This can indicate one of three things…
- The Multy is booting up
- A firmware update is taking place
- The device is being configured
And if it’s solid white…
All is good. It’s switched on and connected to the internet.
Zyxel Multy X light: Blue (blinking)
Bluetooth has been enabled on the device.
And if it’s solid blue…
The Multy has been put into extender mode and it’s connected to the root access point.
Zyxel Multy X light: Red (solid)
Again, there are three different reasons for this…
- The Multy, in root AP mode, failed to connect to the internet
- The Multy, in extender mode, can’t connect to the root access point
- Bluetooth is not working on the device
And if it’s blinking red slowly…
An error has occurred whilst updating the firmware.
And if it’s blinking red quickly…
The Multy is in the process of restoring to factory defaults.
