You get to the end of an episode on Netflix and, the next thing you know, it starts playing the next one. If you were enjoying the music or looking for someone on the credits list, this is annoying. Thankfully you can turn off ‘continue watching’ on Netflix.
The instructions are slightly different depending on how you’re logging into Netflix, but in all cases, you end up on the Netflix website, so you might as well head there in the first place. On smart devices, such as the Amazon Fire TV, the option may not be available, so the website is your best bet.
On the Netflix website
- Sign into Netflix
- Click on your avatar in the top right-hand corner and select “Account”
- In the “My Profile” section, click on “Playback Settings”
- Untick “Auto-Play” and press the “Save” button
On iOS devices
- Click on the “More” icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the app
- Click on “Account”. This will take you online
- In the “My Profile” section, click on “Playback Settings”
- Untick “Auto-Play” and press the “Save” button
On Android devices
- Click on the 3 horizontal bars (hamburger menu) in the top right-hand corner of the app
- Scroll down to the bottom of the menu that appears and select “Account”. This will take you online
- In the “My Profile” section, click on “Playback Settings”
- Untick “Auto-Play” and press the “Save” button
