You’ve bought a 4K TV and you want content that actually shows it off. Amazon Prime Video is pretty good for this, with – at the time of writing – over 200 TV shows that support 4K playback.
Actually that’s a bit misleading, as Amazon bizarrely classifies different seasons of the same show as entirely separate entities. But there’s still lots to choose from.
How do I find 4K TV shows on Amazon Prime?
If you’re watching on a suitably high-resolution TV, then 4K shows should appear with a note reading “Ultra HD” attached to them. But obviously you only see what Amazon’s algorithm thinks you’ll enjoy, so how do you get into the weeds to seek out 4K content?
The best bet is through a web browser on the Amazon website. Just as if you were shopping for shoes, the site’s menus and filters let you seek out exactly what you’re looking for. So first navigate to the Prime Video section of the site here. Once there, scroll down until “4K Ultra High Definition [4K UHD]” is an option on the side and click it.
The page will refresh with just 4K videos available, but you don’t have to stop here – if you just want TV shows, then scroll to the very bottom of the filter menu on the left and tick “TV Shows” in the “Content Type” section.
Similar options are available for genre, year and language, so fill your boots.
Once done, you can only sort the list by the newest arrivals or what Amazon enigmatically refers to as “featured”. At the time of writing there are only 13 pages to go, through, so it shouldn’t take you too long
