Like many companies, Virgin Media isn’t super keen to hand out the telephone numbers for its customer services or technical support team. They want you to use the website help pages instead. However, if you’ve hit a brick wall and need to speak to somebody, here is the phone number for Virgin Media.
Virgin Media phone numbers
150 – if you’re calling from a Virgin Media mobile or mobile
0345 454 1111 – if you’re calling from any other phone
Virgin Media support opening hours
The support team will answer the phones during the following hours:
Monday to Friday: 8am to 9pm
Saturday: 8am to 8pm
Sunday: 8am to 6pm
It has to be said that Virgin Media doesn’t have the best reputation when it comes to telephone support. In regulator Ofcom’s Telecoms and Pay TV complaints report (PDF) for the first quarter of 2021, Virgin Media had by far and away the most complaints per 100,000 customers of any broadband provider, with 33, compared to an industry average of 19.
On the occasions that I’ve had to ring the company, I’ve often found myself on hold for long periods before getting through to an assistant, so if you need to call them for a non-urgent matter, it’s probably best to avoid ringing them towards the end of the day.
How much does it cost to call Virgin Media support?
The 150 number is free for Virgin Media customers, and if you use the 0345 number from a Virgin Media phone it will be counted from within your monthly minute call allowance, according to numbersupermarket.
If you call the 0345 number from a non-Virgin line, it might be charged at local call rates. Numbersupermarket estimates that could cost up to 9p per minute on a landline or between 3p and 55p per minute from a mobile, depending on the tariff. It’s certainly worth checking the 0345 call charges if you’re planning to call from a non-Virgin mobile, as a long support call to rectify a broadband problem could end up being very expensive indeed.
If you don’t want to take the risk of an expensive phone call, you can always use Virgin Media’s live chat service.
