How do you delete payees in the Santander app?

Pay off: delete past payees

Unless you’re very lucky, the list of people you’ve paid money to from your Santander bank account will grow very lengthy after a while. So how do you make that list less cumbersome and delete payees in the Santander app?

The bad news is you cannot do it from the app directly. At least, I’ve not found a way to do it, although if you know differently, please feel free to set me straight in comments.

However, you can delete people from your list of payees from the Santander website, which I recommend you access from a computer rather than a smartphone, where possible.

Time needed: 2 minutes

How to delete payees from your Santander account

  1. Log in to the website

Go to the Santander website and click Log On in the top-right corner. You’ll need to enter your Personal ID and five-digit security number, and possibly more information if this is the first time you’ve logged in from that computer.

  2. Find your list of payees

Select the account you wish to delete payees from and then select Payments & Transfers from the top menu. You should now see a list of all the payees you’ve sent money to in the past.

  3. Delete the payee

Alongside each payee’s name, you’ll see a drop-down menu with ‘Take me to…’ next to it. Click on that select Delete payee, as shown below. You’ll be asked to confirm whether you want to delete the payee on the next screen. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for as many payees as you wish to remove and they’ll no longer appear in your app.

Note that if you ever need to pay that person or business again, you’ll have to enter their full account details from scratch.
