Are you waiting for a parcel that is due to turn up today? Not sure what time Amazon stops delivering? Well, there’s no official stop time that we can see published on the website, but we do have some clues.
How late do Amazon deliveries arrive?
An Amazon delivery driver in the UK tells us that parcels are collected from warehouses as late as 6:15pm and delivery drivers work up to 10:15pm.
That would tally with the results of a short poll I ran on Twitter, asking people to indicate the latest time they’ve seen a parcel arrive. It was a very limited sample of respondents, but the results are interesting nonetheless:
Around three quarters of the respondents had seen Amazon deliveries arrive after 9pm at night. Around a fifth had taken delivery of items after 10pm.
On the one hand, it’s good that something such as a birthday or Christmas present might still arrive if you’ve not received it by mid-evening. On the other, 10pm is pretty late to be answering the door, especially if there are young children in the house!
How can I check when my Amazon parcel is due to arrive?
There are several ways to do this, although the accuracy of the information will depend on which courier firm is delivering the parcel.
The first thing to check is your Amazon order history. Go to the Amazon homepage and then click Returns & Orders in the top-right corner. You should see recently ordered items on the page that appears. Click into the order to see any delivery updates. If the courier provided tracking information, you should be able to access that here.
If you’ve not got a computer to hand, you can check via the Amazon app on smartphones or tablets. If you’ve got the app installed, it’s worth checking your app notifications, as delivery updates are often posted there.
If you have any Amazon Alexa devices in the home, you can also ask Alexa. Say “Alexa, where is my stuff?” and she should give you a verbal update on any outstanding orders. If you see a green light on an Amazon Alexa speaker, that’s often a notification that an item is due to be delivered. Ask Alexa “what’s my notification?” to get the delivery update.
Can I stop Amazon delivering at weekends?
If you’re getting items sent to a work address or you simply don’t want to be disturbed at home by couriers at weekends, you can tell Amazon that you don’t want deliveries to specific addresses on Saturday or Sunday.
To do this, go to the Amazon website and select Account & Lists in the top-right of the screen, and then click Your Account. You should see a menu like this:
Click Your Addresses on the left-hand side and then click Edit on the address in question.
If you scroll down on that page, you should see an option to specify if the address is closed on Saturdays, Sundays or both. Choose closed or open as appropriate:
