What does an orange light on the Sky Q Hub mean?

Join the Q: find out what the Hub's lights mean

If there is a flashing orange light on the Sky Q Hub – or amber light as Sky prefers to call it – you could have a problem.

Here, we’ll explain what the potential problems are and how to fix them. Or, at the very least, point you in the direction of help!

The Sky Q Hub has three lights on the front labelled ‘power’, ‘internet’ and ‘wireless’. Discovering which one is flashing orange is key to determining where the problem lies.

Flashing orange power light

If your power light is flashing orange, this indicates that your Sky Q Hub is in recovery mode, which usually happens after a software upgrade. In most cases, this should resolve itself after a few minutes.

If it doesn’t, press the small “reset” button on the rear panel for approximately 10 seconds before releasing it.

Flashing orange internet light

If the internet light blinks orange, then this suggests that your Sky Q Hub has detected an internet connection and is starting the connection process. This usually take 2-3 minutes to complete and will then glow green when finished.

However, if the internet light continually flashes orange and doesn’t resolve itself, then this could mean the Sky Q Hub has failed to make a stable internet connection. In this case, your best bet is to head to sky.com/mybroadband for further help.
