Suspect that your Virgin Media Wi-Fi is being hijacked by a skinflint neighbour? Want to boot an irritating family member off of the network? It’s time to change your password. Luckily, changing your Virgin Media Hub network login is simplicity itself – all you’ll need is an Ethernet cable and a spare minute.
The only slight complication is that the instructions vary slightly depending on which Virgin router you have, which is why we’ve split out the advice depending on this. If you’re not sure which model you own, check the sticker on the side of your router.
Change your Virgin Media Hub password: Hub 3.0
- Connect your computer to the Hub 3.0 using an Ethernet cable
- Type the web address listed on the router sticker into your browser of choice. This will bring up the settings page
- Select “Configure your WiFi connection”
- Click the “Change” option next to your password
- Enter a new password, bearing in mind that it must be ten characters long, include an uppercase letter, as well as a number, and must not have eight lowercase characters in a row
- Select “Apply changes” and close the settings page
- All of the devices that were connected to the Wi-Fi will be now automatically disconnected, meaning you’ll have to enter the new password to connect each individually. You may need to restart your devices to do this
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable from your computer
Change your Virgin Media Hub password: Super Hub 2ac
- Connect your computer to the Super Hub 2ac using an Ethernet cable
- Type the web address listed on the router sticker into your browser of choice. This will bring up the settings page
- Select Wireless Network Settings
- Type your new password into the Passphrase box
- Click Save Settings and close the settings page
- All of the devices that were connected to the Wi-Fi will be now automatically disconnected, meaning you’ll have to enter the new password to connect each individually. You may need to restart your devices to do this
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable from your computer
Change your Virgin Media Hub password: Super Hub 2
- Connect your computer to the Super Hub 2 using an Ethernet cable
- Type the web address listed on the router sticker into your browser of choice. This will bring up the settings page
- Select Wireless Network Settings
- Type your new password into the Passphrase box
- Click Save Settings and close the settings page
- All of the devices that were connected to the Wi-Fi will be now automatically disconnected, meaning you’ll have to enter the new password to connect each individually. You may need to restart your devices to do this
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable from your computer
Change your Virgin Media Hub password: Super Hub
- Connect your computer to the Super Hub using an Ethernet cable
- Type the web address listed on the router sticker into your browser of choice. This will bring up the settings page
- Select Wireless Network Settings
- Toggle the Security Mode dropdown box to WPA Auto, if this hasn’t already been done
- Type your new password into the Passphrase box
- Click Save Settings and close the settings page
- All of the devices that were connected to the Wi-Fi will be now automatically disconnected, meaning you’ll have to enter the new password to connect each individually. You may need to restart your devices to do this
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable from your computer
