The Oculus Quest 2 offers a fantastic VR experience, but it’s not so wonderful for those in the room with you. While they may laugh as you flail around comically, wouldn’t it be great if they could really see what you’re doing?

Fortunately, casting from your Oculus Quest 2 to your TV is simple, allowing everyone else around you to enjoy the view as well. Let’s take a look at what’s involved.

What do I need to cast my Oculus Quest 2 to my TV?

To cast your VR experience onto your TV, you’ll need your Quest 2 headset and a Chromecast device. Many modern TVs now come with Chromecast built-in but, if yours doesn’t, then there are other options such as the Chromecast dongle or the Nvidia Shield to get you up and running. You’ll also want to make sure that your Chromecast device and your Quest 2 are both connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Once your casting equipment is ready, you can cast to your TV in two ways: from your Quest 2 headset or from the Oculus app on your phone or tablet.

To cast from your headset, first make sure you’ve turned on the TV and then slip on your Quest 2 headset. Power up the Quest 2 and, when it’s ready, select the Share icon from the main panel, as highlighted by the red arrow below:

How do I cast from my Oculus Quest 2 to my TV using my phone or tablet?

When someone else is using the Quest 2, it may be simpler to cast to your TV using the Oculus app. To do so, first install the Oculus app onto your phone or tablet – if you haven’t already – and sign in with your account. It’s also worth checking that your phone or tablet are on the same Wi-Fi network as the headset and casting device.

Once that’s done, open the Oculus app and make sure you are on the Home page. If you’re unsure, click on the Home icon at the bottom left of the app.
