Running a small company can be a headache, and finding the time to nip out to for aspirin may also prove difficult. It’s often easier just to buy them online. However, don’t try ordering your medicines from Amazon if you use a business account, as you won’t be able to.
The reason for the block on selling medical products to Amazon business customers in the UK is pretty vague. Digging around on the Amazon website reveals that it’s because of regulatory restrictions. It also goes on to say that “business customers can’t purchase medicinal products for human consumption on Amazon Business for any purpose. Amazon may cancel any orders containing these products.”
Even Amazon’s customer service department couldn’t throw any further light on the subject. The representative contacted simply explained it was due to regulations but couldn’t provide any further details.
So how can I buy medicines on Amazon?
The only way to buy over-the-counter medicines on Amazon and cure your ailments is to sign in with a personal Amazon account. If you’re using the website, you can do this by clicking on the top right of the page where it mentions your business account.
Now select Switch Accounts from the menu that appears.
If you’re using the Amazon app, then tap the Hamburger menu, scroll down to settings and select Switch Accounts.
Now select Add account and enter your details. If you don’t have a personal account, you can create one by clicking on Create your Amazon Account on the website or Create account if you’re using the app. When setting up your personal account, make sure you use a different email address than the one you have for Amazon business.
Once signed up and signed into your personal account, you can now purchase the necessary medicines. Just don’t forget to switch back to your business account when needed.
